Transcending Text … new exhibition by Splinter Contemporary Artists

It could be said that there is a separation between written and visual art practice.
Books and poetry are placed in one area, paintings and sculpture in another. However there is often a cross pollination between these practices.
A particularly emotive or profound piece of poetry or story, song lyric, motto or quotation can conjure up a visual image in response to the narrative or descriptive text.
Conversely, an artist may be inspired to write poetry or prose in a personal response to a particularly affecting work of visual art.
Then there are contemporary art works which draw their inspiration from the design and fonts of text itself.
This exhibition explores the interplay between the art of language and the art of visualization.
